Mega Man Lvl 2

 Mega Man Lvl 2

I believe that my level went really well. It was split into three parts. A normal parkour section. A fighting section after receiving the Super armor, and then an arrow parkour section after getting the arrow suit upgrade.

The pathing in my levels was linear. Players had to complete one section and receive a key and the new weapon before moving to the next area. With the new weapon, the new area was made easier, teaching players to learn the mechanics of their newfound powers. And because areas were locked with colored keys, it was very obvious where the players needed to go.

The only issue with the level was its difficulty. Especially when it came to the arrow parkour, the difficulty of the level ramped up. I had not originally intended for the levels to be this difficult. When playing through there is a tick to nearly every part of the stages. But, they were much harder for players to figure out and execute than I had originally thought.

I would say that the overall flow of the level fits well. Players are not left doing a specific task for too long, and the tasks are different enough so that frustration in one field does not lead over to that in another.

The level had some pretty good circulation elements. A main lobbyish area made up the bottom part of the level. Then three ascending platforms went up from there. After completion of each area, there would be a place to jump back down to the main lobby, and go for the next area.

Area 1: parkour

This area has a ton of spike parkour for the player to conquer. A couple of the jumps needed to complete this parkour need specific tech.

For example, this jump needs to be performed behind the ladder instead of on top of it.

And this ladder regrab takes some getting used to timing wise.

Area 2: mass enemies

In this area, positioning is key. With the newly acquired homing rocket arm, players can find a safe area to stand in while still being able to kill all enemies on screen.

Area 3: Arrow parkour

This area is entirely skill based. Players need to be able to get the hang of the arrows timing and restraints in order to keep ascending up the stage.
